Customers judge a trade business quickly. A clear logo and tidy, consistent colours say you are professional before they read a word.
Keep the logo simple
A good trade logo works at small sizes, on a van, on workwear and on a phone screen. That usually means:
- Your business name in a clear, readable font.
- At most one simple symbol, such as a house, tool or initial, if you want one.
- No fine detail, gradients or tiny text that disappear when shrunk.
Choose a few colours
Pick one main colour and one accent, plus neutral dark and light shades. Blue, green, red and orange are common in trades for good reason: they look dependable and stand out. Check that text is easy to read on your background colours.
Get the right files
Ask for your logo as a vector file (SVG or PDF) and as a PNG with a transparent background. Keep a version for light backgrounds and one for dark. These make it easy for printers, sign writers and your website.
Use it consistently
Use the same logo and colours on your van, website, invoices, quotes, business cards and social profiles. Consistency matters more than perfection. See van signage and your website.
Where to get one
You can hire a freelance designer, use an affordable design service or, if you already have a logo you like, simply tidy it up and get proper files. If you have no logo, we can sort a simple one when we build your site. See how it works.
Do not copy
Never copy another firm’s logo or use stock logos that other companies also use. It can cause legal problems and makes you look generic.
Check you own it
Make sure you own the rights to your logo. If someone designed it for you, get written confirmation that you can use it freely.
A simple, clean logo used consistently beats an expensive one used inconsistently.
