Seasonal marketing for trades: what to promote and when

October 14, 20262 min read

Most trades have busy and quiet periods, and customers search at predictable times. If your website and marketing follow the same rhythm, you catch the wave instead of chasing it.

Think a month or two ahead

People start searching before the work is urgent. If you wait for the first cold snap or storm to update your site, you are late. Get ready in the weeks before demand peaks.

Some seasonal patterns

These are general patterns, not rules. Look at your own enquiries to see when you are busiest.

Autumn and winter – Heating engineers: boiler servicing and breakdowns as the cold arrives – Roofers: storm damage, leaks and gutters – Electricians: lighting and safety checks as the nights draw in – Damp and insulation specialists: condensation, mould and cold homes

Spring – Landscapers and gardeners: lawns, planting and patios – Fencing contractors: gardens ready for the season – Decorators and painters: refresh and exterior jobs – Paving and driveway contractors: projects planned for summer

Summer – Builders: extensions and renovations, often planned months earlier – Window and door fitters: replacements and conservatories – Roofers: re-roofs and flat roof work in dry weather – Scaffolders: busy supporting everyone else

Anytime – Locksmiths, plumbers, handymen and emergency work

What to update

A few simple changes keep your site in step with the season:

  • A seasonal banner or message at the top of the homepage
  • A dedicated page for the seasonal service, such as “Boiler servicing before winter”
  • Fresh photos from recent seasonal jobs
  • A refreshed Google Business Profile with new photos and an update post
  • A reminder to past customers, by email or text, when it is time for their annual service

Build repeat work

Seasonal services such as annual boiler servicing, gutter clearance and garden maintenance are repeat revenue. A reminder system turns one customer into a yearly one.

Plan a calendar

Write down the four or five times a year when demand rises for your trade, and what to change on your site and profile before each. Ten minutes of planning saves lots of last-minute panic.

Customers search before the rush. Get your site and profile ready for the season before it arrives.
